Henry Blackaby, a well-known Bible teacher, says to find out where God is at work and join Him. This is what Brentwood Baptist has done. For several years a church in the inner city along with other partners have held a 3-day medical dental clinic for their community. The official launch of our Medical Dental Unit (MDU) ministry began this fall by joining their work.
One crisp Friday morning I saw several people sitting under the tent waiting for the Mobile Medical / Dental Clinic to open. They had been there since 6 AM. The clinic would not open until 9 AM. Several hundred from a neighborhood in Nashville took advantage of teeth cleaning, extractions (80 in one day), and health screenings (blood pressure, diabetes test, Cholesterol, and HIV testing).
The most important screening we offered was spiritual.. I worked with the evangelism group. We shared the gospel with 200 individuals while they were waiting their turn for services. Most were willing to answer a few questions about church and their personal beliefs 19 made professions of faith.
